Hi all, I've a question about touch events in a view heirarchy:
I have a UIView object which has an on touch event attached. This has a sub view with another on touch event. When this subview is added to the main view I can override the touch event of the UIView behind it by either adding an event handler for the same event to the subview, or putting an 'point in frame' block in the main view. Both these methods work well.
However if I add a button to the subview and touch this, then the main view receives the touch event again. How can I stop this?
thanks,
kenneth

I already have the Gevey Sim Card. My iPhone 4 now shows T-mobile as the cell phone carrier instead of Simple Mobile. I can make calls but the reception is a little spotty now. Do I still need to enter the MMS settings from Simple Mobile on my iPhone 4? The phone is not jailbroken, only unlocked with the Gevey. Thanks

I think I might go for the NUDE. Slim, nice-looking and fitted so that I can place it in my soun dock. The rebel touch looks thick to fit into my sound dock.

I sure as heck hope they release the new MBPs (if they are announced) the same day, because I've been waiting to get my new laptop long enough as it is.
Maybe this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=412084)'d interest you.

I'm in knoxville and I made the switch from ATT to Verizon. Service is much better with Verizon and data seems to be a bit faster.

The WGS 95 is somewhat collectable - the Mac II a little less so. I personally like the Mac II because it's one of only two '020 machines (the LC being the other), but most other people don't seem to care. Anything in a Quadra 900 form factor tends to generate interest - especially the WGS line since there aren't as many of them.
The X factor will be shipping - neither of those machines will be inexpensive to ship. I'd recommend heading over to the 68kmla (http://68kmla.org/forums/) site and see if anyone is interested.
Thanks so much for the info. I will check that site out, I have never heard of it. Unfortunately I am not eligible for the marketplace here, when I find some time I will take a look. I just threw out a bunch a few weeks ago :/. As to the workgroup server, how much are those worth? Are they still worth anything around $100? Thank you!

they do have USB dongles which convert to a VGA display. OWC sells them (as well as chinese vendors) and they work, but to a limited extent. We use them at a K-12 school and for that use it is fine. I would do mini display to vga if you are doing anything video related.

Have you considered going through newegg. For $235 you can get the 120GB hard drive and install it yourself. The process isn't very difficult. Then either get a cheap external case for you old drive to transfer the files and have a portable external. Or if you have a desktop you can transfer your data to it and back. You can also get a 5400RPM 100GB for $155 their isn't much of a difference in storage but the price is half. Just my two cents.

i've had some issues with my macbook charging etc.
so far apple have:
-replaced my screen (issue with screen surround dropping down)
-reconnected wireless wires from screen (were not properly connected when screen replaced)
-replaced charger (first power issue solution)
-replaced the battery (still did not solve charging issue)
-agreed to replace logic board & magsafe board next week.
thats 6 trips to the applestore in total to get a properly working macbook!!!
should i just ask for a new macbook? I'm really not convinced of this ones reliability now. Do you think they owe me that much at least?
usually it takes three separate major components (hard drive, LCD, DVD drive, logic board, etc) for them to issue a replacement, and even that is a foggy area. I have heard people saying that they really like apple stuff and want to love this, but it has been a disappointing experience, etc. Some apple stores are more "lax" and customer experience hungry and will go further than others.
as far as not charging goes, what is the status of the battery when you look at it in the system profiler?

No one's forcing you.
I never claimed anyone does, but it's hard to ignore if you are into electronic music. For me Dubstep sounds like a prog/breaks track which wants to get out and can't. The only place it ever sounded good was when the DJ played it as a warm-up at the Prodigy live concert, but I guess on a proper sound system everything sounds good. :D

To my dismay, my replacement iphone has the pentalobe screws. Im in kind of a rush so i want to avoid purchasing it online and going through the wait times. Is there local stores that sell the pentalobe screwdriver? Im not sure radio shack does. Does anyone know if a phillips 00 will work? I may have one around the house. The only thing im nervous about is that it might strip the screws.

You can feel free to make an offer, but keep in mind it's got a $100 warranty on it.

Dammit. Having successfully resisted the siren call of the iPad, this would actually make it a must-buy. Damn you, Apple! *shakes fist*
Note that I'm not suggesting that this could replace a Cintiq, but I can't take a Cintiq downstairs and use it in front of the TV Plus, you don't seem to have been able to actually buy a 21" UX for love nor money since the middle of last year.
Cheers

3am. Yikes.
I was thinking 530am would be good enough at UTC. I have a work meeting at 9am in Sorrento Valley. Perhaps I'm going to have to wait for iPhone 4. :(
I was just at the store, and there were already 6 people lined up to camp for the night! But I have a feeling that if you're there when the store opens, you should be fine. I really think this is all hype.
Fashion Valley won't let people line up until 5 am, so I'm thinking that might be a better bet.

You could try to set up a temporary ad-hoc if you only need to do it once or at least not simultaneously with an internet connectivity option... It gets complicated then. Given that you have a mac there is some software from Apple that allows sharing of optical drives wirelessly. I even think it is built in Snow Leopard.

Here's a good little find for you all. My lady friend works for the state library system and she happened across these one day in her desk. She brought one home and I immediately knew what it was. Thought I would share, I am sure a few of you know what these are, but for those that don't. I'd love to see your guesses :D

I have the v2 as well. I find it to be slow for file-open operations and randomly slow for reading and writing. Using it as an everyday desktop drive makes everything feel sluggish and irritating, so I use mine for archival storage where its speed issues* don't matter to me.
On the data side it has been 100% reliable. I have it on a UPS, so there have been no improper dismounts which I am sure helps. I don't have heat issues, there are 4x1TB Western Digital GreenPower drives in the box.
I also chose the Drobo because I did not want a NAS. I use my network for plenty of other things (A NAS plus streaming with iTunes is especially nuts, as your data ends up traveling over the network twice).
A.
* speed issues: Yes, I can get 35MB/sec out of it. Sometimes. Other times I will be copying a multi-gigabyte file from it and I'm lucky to get 10MB/sec. Just now as a test I tried to copy a 1GB file from the Drobo to /dev/null - 34MB/sec. I tried to copy a second, slightly larger file the same way - 10 MB/sec. I'm sure there's some cool technical explanation, but to the end user it's just unpredictable and annoying.

Here's the deal, I was having some kernal panics, 4 over the weekend (which I think might be from iTunes 4.7.1. seeing as how I don't have KPs if iTunes isn't running and I just upgraded to 4.7.1), and I tried some fixes and now my Mac won't boot, but just freezes on the grey boot up screen. BUT if I hold down "option" while starting up I can select my OS X start up disk and boot-up just fine. So, it seems, open firmware can't find my OS X boot disk automatically, but I can select it manually and all is good.
The place I think I screwed up is when I booted into single-user mode to try and repair permissions from there I misspelled one of the commands (the repair permissions command) and couldn't get back to the command prompt. I finally did a hard reboot and that's when it just froze on the grey start-up screen.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
thanks,
Lethal

Is there a way to check a USB port? The one on the front of my powermac g5 was working fine yesterday, but today won't recognize anything. The same devices plugged into the back port work fine. It appears to power the device plugged in, but it doesn't get recognized.

I'd rather look for them on eBay or international shopping sites like cdwow.net or CrazyTiger, but if everything fails... yeah, it might be illegal since you didn't pay for lossless, but morally you should be fine.

Hey everybody, thanks for the help. You have answered my questions. I do have one more though. After I rip a CD, then put it on my ipod, and I delete the CD from my itunes memory, why is it that when I plug my ipod back in, that CD (and playlist) are gone from my ipod? I guess the question is: Once I rip a CD, do I have to keep it in itunes? Thanks
Chris
